How does Passcut handle privacy?
Transcription and most cuts run on-device. For some whole-video instructions you can optionally use Apple Private Cloud Compute — transcript text only, never your video file, never a third-party AI API. Off by default in Settings → Privacy.
Unlike cloud video editors that upload unreleased footage to remote servers, Passcut does not send your video file to a Passcut cloud or a third-party AI API.
What still uses the network?
License activation still needs the network (Lemon Squeezy). First transcription may download Apple speech assets. Optional Private Cloud Compute, if you turn it on, sends transcript text only.
