How do you remove a green screen from video on Mac?

To remove a green screen in Passcut, import chroma-key footage, open More commands, choose Green screen, pick the backdrop color, set a fill, and apply. The key runs on your Mac. Green screen is Lite or Pro.

Passcut keys a real green or blue studio backdrop. It is not a web editor and not an Electron app. If you shot in a normal room with no backdrop, use Person background instead.

Step 1: Create a project and import footage

Open Passcut on macOS 26 and Apple Silicon. Create a new project and drop your green or blue screen clips from Finder. Passcut indexes media locally in a .passcut bundle. Use the clip picker to choose Storyline, Rough Cut, or B-Roll so the key lands on the take you meant.

Step 2: Open More commands and choose Green screen

Open More commands and select Green screen. Adjust the chroma color to match the backdrop, then set Similarity and Edge. The playhead mini preview shows the key before you commit.

Step 3: Choose a fill and apply

Pick a fill: gradient, solid, image, or the clip below. Apply the key. To clear it later, use Inspector → Remove background.

Step 4: Export on your Mac

Review the composite on the assembly timeline, then export. Free and Lite render MP4 (H.264 / HEVC). Pro adds ProRes 422, YouTube 4K / 2K, and FCPXML plus EDL handoff. Footage does not go to a Passcut cloud.
