#Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a subscription?

No. Lite and Pro are one-time licenses for Passcut 1.x, including updates. Passcut 2.x will be a new Lite/Pro SKU.

Does Passcut run on Intel Macs or Windows?

No. Passcut requires macOS 26 or later and Apple Silicon. There is no Intel or Windows build.

Does video upload to a Passcut cloud?

No. Footage does not go to a Passcut cloud. Transcription and most cuts run on-device.

Does any text leave the Mac?

Only if you turn on Apple Private Cloud Compute for some whole-video instructions (transcript text only, never the video file, never a third-party AI API), or when activating a license key with Lemon Squeezy.

What is Founding Member?

Founding Member is Pro at launch pricing. Same features as Pro — not a separate lifetime-through-2.x class.

How do I activate a paid license?

Paste your license key in the app under Settings → License.

How do I contact Passcut support?

Email support@mail.passcut.app for install, license, or app issues. Include your Mac model, macOS version, and Passcut version. Press inquiries go to press@mail.passcut.app.

What language can I transcribe?

You pick it. Ask every time (default), reuse the last language, or always use one. One language per media file — Apple’s speech model does not switch mid-file. Extra clips transcribe when you ask, each with its own language.

Does a second clip upload or auto-transcribe?

No. Extra clips transcribe when you ask, each with its own language. Footage does not go to a Passcut cloud. Captions follow each clip’s language on a mixed Storyline. First transcription may still download Apple speech assets.

Is Passcut better for the environment than a cloud editor?

Your video is not uploaded to a Passcut cloud and is not transcribed on a rented GPU farm. We do not publish a carbon score. The difference is where the work runs: your Mac. Optional Apple Private Cloud Compute is transcript text only, off by default.
